Well-Child Visits

Kids grow up quickly. We help them grow up strong. You know to take your child to the doctor when they’re sick, but it’s important to take them when they’re healthy too.

What to expect during a well-child visit?

Regular checkups are an important way to keep track of your child's health and physical, emotional and social development. They also give your child’s doctor the opportunity to find and treat health concerns early.

During your child’s visit, they’ll receive a physical exam. The doctor will check:

If specialist services are needed, your child’s PCP will provide a referral.

How many well-child visits are recommended?1

As a baby, your child needs many well-child visits. As they grow older, well-child visits become less frequent through age 21.

These visits are covered by your health plan:

  • Six well-child visits in the first 15 months of life
  • Two well-child visits between 16-30 months of life
  • Annual well visit between the ages of 3 and 21
